Finn Grand Fest 2010 -- where Finns from around the world will gather

Finn Grand Fest 2010 will be held in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Canada, July 28th - August 1st, and will celebrate and promote all things Finnish -- arts, crafts, culture, language, history, education, entertainment and sporting events (one has to ask, will the sporting events include "wife-carrying" and "Nokia cell phone throwing"?).  For more information and venue schedules, see their website at http://www.finngrandfest2010.com.

Kantele
-- the National Instrument of Finland

Gerry Henkel in Minnesota crafts wonderful 5- and 10-string kanteles.  The one he made for me rings like a bell, with beautiful overtones and harmonics.  I can see why my Finnish and Sami ancestors had one in every home.  Check out Gerry's Kantele Shop at http://www.kantele.com where he has links to all kinds of products and information regarding the art, history and music of the kantele, or contact Gerry at: gerryhenkel at fastermac dot net.

Finnware -- the place to buy great Finnish products

Finnware, in Astoria, Oregon is a terrific little store near Highway 101's Astoria-Megler bridge, featuring Finnish and Scandinavian products.  They have everything from crystal and pottery, to sauna supplies, to home decor, to music and videos.  Check them out at http://finnware.com to get a feel for their store and a sample of their wares.
