Finn Grand Fest 2010 -- where Finns from around the world will gather
Finn Grand Fest 2010 will be held in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Canada, July 28th - August 1st, and will celebrate and promote all things Finnish -- arts, crafts, culture, language, history, education, entertainment and sporting events (one has to ask, will the sporting events include "wife-carrying" and "Nokia cell phone throwing"?). Kantele -- the National Instrument of Finland
Gerry Henkel in Minnesota crafts wonderful 5- and 10-string kanteles. The one he made for me rings like a bell, with beautiful overtones and harmonics. I can see why my Finnish and Sami ancestors had one in every home.
